What do you do and what excites you about it?

I work in product development for Victoria’s Secret Beauty. The work here is very fast-paced, which I find exciting. I spend part of my time working in our stores interviewing customers about our fragrances. I spend the rest of my time supporting the development team in the home office.

How do you get inspiration for your role?

I keep up with the fragrance and beauty market regularly by browsing blogs, stores and beauty publications and by reaching out to the marketing teams of various fragrance houses in the area. I frequently test fragrances and share my opinion with my manager.

What are you passionate about when you're not working?

I love Latin American as well as French language and culture.

How does New York feed your passions?

New York is a very multicultural city. I take advantage of the city’s dance classes, festivals and restaurants regularly.

What would you recommend that a visitor to New York should see or do while they’re there?

A visitor must do as much walking around New York’s neighborhoods as possible. Neighborhoods to visit on foot are Soho/Noho/Little Italy, Williamsburg and most of Central Park. Tourists should visit the Highline and stop in one of the meatpacking eateries or the Chelsea Market for those watching their spending. The NY skyline, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty should be admired by boat. The museums to visit include the MET, MOMA and the American Museum of Natural History.

Are there any trends, cultural shifts or movements emerging in New York right now that really excite you?

The health movement in New York intrigues me, which is reflected through the different ‘healthy’ dessert venues popping up around the city, the increase in diversity in fitness classes and race, and the improvement in “green” paths in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

What do you think the major changes in New York will be in the next 5 years?

Over the next 5 years, the city will become a safer and easier place to navigate for bicyclists, pedestrians and drivers. The recycling program is under expansion as well. Major investments will be made in the boroughs and in northern Manhattan.

What kind of projects would you like to get involved in with the sense network?

I would like to get involved in projects focused on fitness, travel (including local) and Latin American culture in the US.

Which brand would you most like to have an influence on and how would you like them to change?

I would like to influence positive change on a large food corporation such as General Mills. Improvements would include working ‘fair trade’ with foreign and local farmers and producers. I would like to see a decrease in food waste by implementing a donation system where excess goods are given back to the needs and to the producers.

If you could improve just one thing in the world what would it be?

I would like to see a decrease in usage of polluting vehicles by perhaps imposing a strong tax on carbon emissions.
